ON THE EDGE from the Extreme Teen Bible & Pastor Jerry

Are YOU honoring YOUR MOTHER today?  Mothers are special people.  They are the people who miraculously gave you life.   My Mother has grown wiser through the years and even now I still “listen” to my Mother. The difference between what we want and what your mom wants is all about perspective.  We see that everyone else is doing and long to be a part of the fun.  Your Mom sees a much bigger picture—the part that you don’t want to think about—the stuff you know will never happen to you.  When you say “Why can’t my curfew be one hour later; what’s the big deal?”  she sees the reality – the later it gets, the more drunk drivers on the road, violent crimes increase, fatigue cause people to make poor decisions, and the list goes on.  None of us like the answer “No.”  Your Mom’s years have brought her wisdom.  And God has given her to you to be responsible.  Proverbs say that wise sons and daughters heed their parent’s instructions.  Your Mom is the instrument through which God builds your life and gives you direction.  Even if you have a hard time accepting their judgment, learn to respect their authority. Christ asks you to respect authority.   Even the Ten Commands say to “Honor your father and mother.”  Do not be the stubborn child who ignores his Mom and grows up to be a fool.  Proverbs says:  “Those who curse their father and mother will be like a light going out in darkness.”  Love your Mom today & everyday.

Need a "method" to study your Bible? Use the PAAWS method we use in Youth Bible Study. As you read a passage, pick out the PROMISES you find, ask yourself what ADVICE is being given, think about how you can APPLY this passage to your life, then plan out how you can WITNESS or tell someone about what you have read. Finally, you need to STUDY the Bible daily and live by His word continuously. Fall in love with Christ through His Bible!
