Meet Our Team

Bill Greiner - Senior Pastor

Bill was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio by Robert and Donna Greiner with two older sisters, Nancy and Polly. Bill earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Anderson College in Indiana. With a desire for a more extensive theological training, he moved to Pasadena, California where he completed a Master's of Arts degree in Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. His ministry experience began as a volunteer leader in Young Life at Anderson High School in Anderson, IN. During his career, Bill has served as a youth pastor for 20 years and the senior pastor of Eagle Ridge Church of God for the last 19 years.

Bill has been married to Robin 30 years and has three children. Robin has earned her master of social work degree from SVSU and works with the VA. They live in Midland as "empty nesters." Their youngest son, Dietrich, attends GVSU as a senior. Their adult daughter, Hannah lives on the Elgin, IL and works as fundraiser for Boosterthon. Their oldest son, Josiah, lives in California and works as a special education teacher.

Bill ministers to his community outside the church and can frequently be found in various fast food joints around town working in the community he loves. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Cultivate: Coffee & Tea in Midland.

Deb Yats - Beaverton Campus Director

Deb graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Biology with Secondary Education Certification and later earned her M.A.T. from Saginaw Valley State University. She taught high school biology for 26 years before answering God’s call to fulltime ministry as the Beaverton Campus Director. As a part of the Eagle Ridge family, Deb has taught Sunday School classes and women’s Bible studies, serves on both the worship and preaching teams, and is adept at fixing toilets and painting walls.

Deb and her husband (Dave) have a son, Ben, and a daughter and son-in-law, Katie and David. They also have a dog and four grandcats. In her free time, Deb works at Cultivate Coffee and Tea in the Midland Mall and volunteers as a mentor for YoungLives, a ministry for teen moms.

Deb’s favorite movies include “The Sound of Music,” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and “The Princess Bride.” According to her kids, she has way too many TobyMac songs on her playlist.

Matt Chesney - Director of Youth, Outreach & Operations

Matt is a former high school teacher and principal who heard a strong voice from God to resign his position and become a youth pastor. Matt has a B.S. in Education, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, and a Masters degree in Christian Ministry with a focus on Pastoral Ministry. He and his wife, Melissa, moved from southern Michigan to Midland in August of 2017 with their four children and now he spends his time working to share the Gospel with the youth of Midland.

As the Director of Outreach, Matt works to build bridges out into the community and connect people with Jesus. He has helped with the launch of the two Cultivate locations in the Midland Mall and Sanford, as well as helped launch the Beaverton campus of Eagle Ridge.

As the Director of Operations, Matt coordinates the efforts of site management, church policies, and ensuring that the various teams of servant leaders in the church are working effectively together to serve the mission of the church to Be a Bridge, Build a Bridge.

Matt's philosophy about student ministries is that the best way to draw closer to God is through building relationships with each other and having fun. So, you'll often find him playing wild and crazy games with the youth or sitting down eating an unhealthy meal with the kids.

Tammy Naffie - Director of Mobilization

Tammy serves as our Director of Mobilization, helping followers of Jesus find their personal calling and the good works God has planned for them. Ephesians 2:10. She also works part-time for Trapani Communications Inc, crunching numbers and paying bills.

She and her husband, Mark, have raised their two, now adult, children in Midland. Their son David lives in Nashville TN and daughter and son-in-law, Kate & Grant, live in Crown Point, IN. Visiting them is wonderful, but being Grammy to grandson Callahan is a new role she enjoys most! Anytime they can all be together under the same roof is her favorite!

Tammy enjoys all great music and her go-to for Christian music is We the Kingdon, Josh Wilson, and Mercy Me. She watches the "Santa Clause" movies, in order, each year while wrapping Christmas presents or baking holiday treats. She believes purple is the best color this side of Heaven!
